FS1 heart rate receiver
Use for resting or recovery
heart rate. The horse should be stationary and rider should be
dismounted.
Above normal resting or recovery
heart rate can be an indicator of illness, injury, stress, anxiety or
over training.
Assess Vital Signs:
-
Behavioral changes
- Eating patterns
- Body Check
- Resting body temperature
- Resting heart rate
- Recovery heart rate
- Resting respiratory rate
- Capillary refill time
- Skin pinch test
Most horses have a
morning resting heart rate of 25 – 35 beats per minute.
Recovery heart rate after exercise is higher and individual for each
horse. Heart rate will "recover" more quickly as your horse
becomes more fit. |
Monitor horse vital signs with the Polar
Horse Wellness Kit. Vital signs range from general behavior, attitude,
resting and recovery
heart rate and body temperature.
Any change from 'normality' of these
vital signs may indicate illness, injury, anxiety or fatigue.
Learning to
evaluate vital signs helps you monitor the health of your horse, and
anticipate minor
medical and health problems before they become serious.
Includes informative Vital Measurements
booklet and Vital
Signs record booklet.
