You’re dressed to get fit with your sneakers laced up tight, but how do you know you’re going to get the most from your workout? Take your training to the next level with the RHYTHM+ Heart Rate Monitor from Scosche. The new Scosche RHYTHM + comfortably straps to your forearm to monitor blood flow and more accurately track heart rate, calories burned, distance, pace and more throughout your workouts. This fully wireless device has Bluetooth Smart ANT+ capabilities, allowing it to connect with smartphones, sport watches and exercise equipment. Use your favorite fitness app to manage your workout metrics and train harder and smarter.
We’ve had many curious fitness folks test the RHYTHM+ up against their HR strap, reporting virtually no difference in data. In fact, some people, including DC Rainmaker have noted that the RHYTHM+ optical sensors actually kicked in faster than the HR strap in many cases.
Because the Velcro band is designed to sit securely just below your elbow, there is no slippage regardless of movement or even sweat. While you may initially need to adjust the strap each time you put it on to receive a snug, yet comfortable fit, it’s designed to stay put throughout your workout. By the way, Scosche uses Velcro specifically so you get a customized fit that’s quick and easy to secure.
In a word: extremely. One push of the button turns the unit on, which begins automatically syncing to your Bluetooth-compatible smartphone app or your ANT+ device (providing that your ANT+ can actually display heart rate data). That’s it. Because the data is reported to your smartphone or, say, your running watch, you won’t touch the RHYTHM+ until the end of your workout—then you simply press the button again to turn it off.
No. Your smartphone will sync to both, delivering your heart rate data through your open app.
As long as you’re using a smartphone within readable range (since that’s where you’ll glean your heart rate data), you don’t need any other fitness tools. While RHYTHM+ will sync to most fitness tools, these tools are in no way required. You will need an app that can transmit the RHYTHM+’s data, but there are a number of free apps available for phone download, such as Map My Fitness.
